Current Progress
(2009/06/29)
I appreciate the response to our request for a PHP developer. We have numerous names now and
I will be in contact with them to see what the possibilities are.
There is always a need for people with time/skill to help
contribute to the project.
There is a lot that can currently be implemented using scripts, which has not yet been done.
If you feel you can spare some time to help us out, please consider
contributing.
Current Progress
(2009/05/16)
We know there is an ever-present demand for information about the latest developments, and some
of you may not have time to stay up to date with our project. Therefore, the developers have
decided that we will try to give a more succint status update between releases, giving
everyone a chance to see what's cooking.
Regiuz has compiled a
short forum post which
highlights things to come. Keep checking back, as features are being enabled and implemented
frequently--sometimes even daily--so there are sure to be more previews to come.
Unrelatedly, I've heard from many people that there is an assumption that if this page is not
updated regulary, "the project must be dead." This is far from the truth. It bothers me that
there are so many people out there who refuse to investigate our project beyond the main page,
and consequently label us based on such minimal information.
Originally, this page was not intended to give regular status updates, but only to be an
index and aggregator of our various services (Forums/Wiki/Bugtracker/SVN). Content was
supposed to be injected directly out of those services, and rarely updated on the page itself.
In keeping with that idea, I actually made effort to update this page as infrequently as
possible, so as to not set a precedent of this being a place to view our status.
Unfortunately, the promises of content injection systems from various web developers never
arose, and I gave up trying. It didn't seem worth it, as things are really quite easily
accessible less than a few clicks away. However, with the recent website restoration, it has
become clear that the precedent of not updating the main page has been broken, and people
have come to expect activity here. Therefore, I will be updating this page
manually on occasion, particularly when there is a new pXI preview available on the forums
(such as the case of this post).
However, please don't assume that if this page doesn't get updated in a while, we're suddenly
"dead." We've been living over 3 years now and will not be going away any time soon. So,
please, if you find this page hasn't been updated for a while, do yourself a favor and click
a bit further in--I bet you'll like what you see. Thank you,
~Jinx
Website Restored
(2009/03/21)
The entire website is now back up and fully functional, thanks to hosting from our developer,
Snotz. Although we were offered other good options, Snotz was able to provide a virtual box,
which allows us a great deal of configurability over the server, and may even provide some new
features.
We'd also like to thank Naberius, who came through with temporary (though solid) hosting while
we were deciding on a more permanant provider. We are leaving the temporary site up for now as
a read-only snapshot of the February 11th backups.
Most fortunately, through contact with Exor's old host,
we were able to obtain the most
recent database backups for our services! They have been restored to Snotz's server, so
everything should be exactly the same as when we left it. Please check your accounts and
let me know if there are any issues.
Last, but certainly not least, I'd like to thank Exor, for nearly a year of hosting. While our
arrangement may have ended abruptly, we at pXI nevertheless appreciate his efforts in setting
up and maintaining some of the services we've come to rely upon. Speaking personally, I know
that I would have spent a lot more time researching were it not for his assistance. Thank you,
Exor; your contribution will not be forgotten.
The ProjectXI.org website has been under development since its inception. This front page is currently only
designed as an index of other resources. And, while we've had numerous scripters attempt to create content
injection systems for us, none have come through as of yet, so: please do not expect regular updates to this page.
